Chesterfield man dies in crash involving bicycle, car

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man was killed in a crash while bicycling on River Road in Chesterfield Saturday afternoon.
According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, the crash took place at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20 in the 4300 block of River road.
Officials said a gray 2012 Mazda 3 sedan was driving westbound on River Road near Brickhouse Drive when it hit a bicyclist also traveling westbound on River Road.
The bicyclist has been identified as William Mason, who was taken to a local hospital where he would later die due to his injuries.
The person driving the Mazda stayed on the scene and is cooperating with police, authorities said.
