Chesterfield man speaks out after receiving mail from four different neighbors in one delivery

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — After living in the Midlothian area for more than 20 years, Anthony Richio would like to see some accountability after multiple mail mishaps in his neighborhood.

"Somebody's not paying attention," Richio said. ""The mail comes and goes and it's not there, you're like, where is it? But two or three days later it'll show up. So, where was it for the two days? Because the online tracking says it's delivered."

Richio and his family moved from Philadelphia in 2003 to Chesterfield County, since then, he has received mail for his neighbors and they have received his.

"In regards to our neighbor that has the same numerical address as us, we'll get her mail, and she'll get ours," he explained." Sometimes she goes out of town a lot so, when she comes back home, she'll bring over like two weeks' worth of mail that's ours."

What prompted Richio to reach out to 8News was a recent mix-up this past week, where he received mail for four different neighbors in his neighborhood whose houses are not situated near his.

In the past decade, Richio has sent three complaints to the United States Postal Service and has been told in return that representatives are looking into the matter. However, he says he has not received a follow-up.

Amid the tax-filing season, Richio hopes greater attention will be brought to the ongoing issues he and his neighbors have been facing.

"A lot of W-2s are mailed out at the end of January, beginning of February," Richio said. "You're getting paid to do a job, do the job, and that's it. I think that's what everybody wants, -- knowing that, the mail is going to be accurate."

8News reached out to USPS and is awaiting a response.
