CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A new report from the Chesterfield County Police Department indicates that overall crime is down in the county since 2024, largely due to fewer thefts, fraud cases and vehicle-related crimes.

According to a report from the Chesterfield County Police Department, overall offenses fell from 14,113 to 12,453 incidents between 2024 and November 2025, even though monthly totals are fairly consistent, with about 1,100 to 1,500 incidents monthly.

The most common offenses throughout both years have been larceny -- particularly shoplifting and vehicle thefts -- assault and fraud-related crimes.

Overall, property crime is down sharply, especially thefts from vehicles.

While total crime drops, domestic violence and weapon-related offenses show increases -- drug possession increases as well.
