Christmas shoplifting incident turns into police chase in Chesterfield County
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A shoplifting incident reportedly turned into a police chase in Chesterfield County the weekend before Christmas. According to police, suspects stole thousands of dollars worth of items -- described by police as potential Christmas presents -- from two separate stores this weekend. (Courtesy of the Chesterfield County Police Department) The suspects reportedly loaded the items onto shopping carts and threw them into the back of a truck before fleeing the scene. Police said the suspects stole from the stores within minutes of each other. Police then found the suspects' vehicle on I-95 which turned into a pursuit. The suspects' truck was brought to a stop by a rolling roadblock, according to police. "We're not saying we saved Christmas or anything," a social media post from the department reads. "But it's a good feeling to recover some gifts just in time for our residents' last minute shopping ventures." 8News has reached out to police for more information -- such as how many suspects were involved, if they have been charged, and where and when many of the proceedings occurred. We have not yet received a response.
