Cookie Chris celebrates grand opening of third location in Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A popular Black-owned dessert business born in Virginia is continuing to grow — Cookie Chris is opening its third location on Friday.
The grand opening will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 18, at 4091 Concord Creek Place in Richmond’s East End.
Founded by Chris Holloway, Cookie Chris has become a local favorite for its creative and decadent cookie flavors. The business began as a high school project and has since grown into a beloved brand with a loyal following across the region.
“It feels great to be able to know that the hard work I have put in since my sophomore year of high school has been bearing fruits,” Holloway said. “Even though the journey has been long with ups and downs, I wouldn't have it any other way. Seeing my customers enjoy my products and enjoy the brand of Cookie Chris makes it all worth it.”
The new location marks another milestone for Holloway, whose story was previously featured on 8News during Black History Month as a local entrepreneur making an impact.
“I’m happy, once again, to be able to bring something that will make a positive impact in the community,” he said.
The grand opening celebration is expected to draw new and returning customers excited to get a taste of the shop’s signature treats.
