‘Crab-tastrophe’: Van spills blue crabs across I-64 West in New Kent after crash
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Blue crabs spilled across Interstate 64 West in New Kent County Thursday morning following a crash, which the sheriff's office deemed a "crab-tastrophe."
At around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, the New Kent County Sheriff's Office announced in a social media post that a section of I-64 West in the county had temporarily shut down due to a crash involving a van full of blue crabs.
The van was seen on its side, with its back door open, exposing buckets full of crabs. A few crabs were seen spilled across the interstate.

Crews worked to clear the scene, and at around 3:30 a.m., the sheriff's office said on social media the area had reopened, adding, "crab-tastrophe averted."
