Crash shuts down I-295 South in Hanover, closures will remain overnight

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A crash has shut down Interstate 295 South in Hanover County on Tuesday, with officials saying the closure may continue into Wednesday morning.

The crash was first reported just before 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, along I-295 near Pole Green Road, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

As of 8:31 p.m., all southbound lanes are closed. Drivers are being detoured off the highway at Chamberlayne Road (exit 41A).

VDOT said that these closures are likely to remain in place overnight and may still be in place during the early morning commute on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
