Driver dead, another injured after crash in Prince Edward

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A driver is dead and another was injured after a crash in Prince Edward County on Friday afternoon.

Virginia State Police troopers said the crash took place at about 5:55 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at the intersection of Prince Edward Highway and Peaks Road in Prince Edward County.

A 2016 Jeep Cherokee was traveling westbound on Prince Edward Highway when it "was unable to avoid" a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The Rogue had entered the Peaks Road intersection, according to state police.

The driver of the Rogue died at the scene. The driver of the Cherokee was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
