Driver seriously hurt after crash, vehicle fire on I-295 South in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A driver is seriously hurt after a crash and vehicle fire on Interstate 295 South in Henrico County on Friday.

At about 5:40 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, state troopers with Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a crash on I-295 southbound near Mill Road.

When they arrived, they found that a single vehicle had run off the highway, crashed and caught fire. The driver and only occupant was taken to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

As of 6:27 p.m., the southbound left and center lanes are closed, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
