Elderly couple found dead with gunshot wounds in Albemarle County

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Albemarle County Police Department has launched a suspicious death investigation after an elderly couple was found dead with gunshot wounds.
On Sunday, March 16, Albemarle County police responded to a welfare check at a home in the 500 block of Loblolly Lane. The caller told police that the homeowners had not talked to friends or family since Thursday, March 13.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered two people inside the home with gunshot wounds.
The homeowners were identified as a 77-year-old woman and an 86-year-old Bman who died on the scene.
Based on the information from the investigation, detectives believe this incident to be an isolated situation with no threat to the public.
