Fire under control after Petersburg Fire and EMS responded to Motel

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- On Wednesday, July 30, Petersburg Fire Rescue and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire.

The fire happened at the American Inn on County Drive at a two story motel, according to a Facebook post from Petersburg Fire Rescue and EMS.

Heavy smoke was visible from the building as crews approached. Several engines and trucks arrived to aid in putting the fire out.

According to Petersburg Fire, one person did need medical attention. Crews cleared the fire in just under 11 minutes and cleared the building.
