Fish without a license in Virginia over three days in early June
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Did you know you can fish without a license in Virginia during three days in early June? For Virginia's Free Fishing Days, folks of any level can come out to public waters and cast their line.
According to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR), Virginia's Free Fishing Days will be held on Friday, June 6, Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8.
Throughout those three days, folks can fish public waters without a license or facility use permit, including stocked trout waters.
The department will host a free, hands-on event at Dorey Park in Henrico County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, where staff and volunteers will be on site with rods and reels, terminal tackle and bait, and instruct attendees on how to fish.
No registration is required. All fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions, will remain in effect.
Additional hands-on events will be held in Fairfax County, Mathews County and Virginia Beach.
The department said DWR fee fishing areas still require a fee for Free Fishing Days.
