RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Flash flood warnings have been issued throughout Central Virginia on Tuesday as more severe storms hit the region, bringing heavy downpours.

July 15 is yet another stormy day for Central Virginia. Especially with the ground as wet as it is, flooding is a significant concern -- the impact of which multiple localities have already experienced in the past weeks.

Petersburg, in particular, is under a state of emergency due to the heavy flooding it has faced.

A flash flood warning means that heavy rains are expected to cause sudden flooding in the impacted areas.

Chesterfield homeowners worry about flooding as more rain approaches

The following localities are under a flash flood warning until 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday:

  • Emporia
  • Greensville County

The following localities are under a flash flood warning until 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday:

  • Richmond

The following localities are under a flash flood warning until 7 p.m. on Tuesday:

  • Prince George County
  • Sussex County
