Garden Glow at Maymont promises dazzling fun, new additions
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Garden Glow is set to illuminate Maymont's landscape starting on Wednesday, Oct. 15, and park officials say you can expect three new light installations.
The dazzling display runs nightly through Nov. 9 except on Mondays.
Guests will find three new artistic light installations that include:
- A lawn, designed by Culture Creative, with thousands of lights that blink in patterns called "Effervescence"
- A 22-foot-tall bouquet of Peonies designed by French studio TILT
- A flock of origami-style birds in trees called "L'Envol," designed by the French studio Pitaya
"All of our light installations are inspired by nature," Laurie Mavica, Maymont director of events and special sales, explained to 8News.
The event also features a Glow Village on the Carriage House Lawn with glow furniture, fire pits and a Big Bright Mega Light. Officials said local food trucks will also be present throughout the event's run.
Park officials said the entire length of the walking path will take around 90 minutes. You're encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and wear warm layers.
Garden Glow will open at 6 p.m. for the first eight days, then at 5:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. as the days get shorter. The event ends at 10 p.m. nightly with final entry at 9 p.m.
The Garden Glow entrance is located at The Robins Nature Center at 2201 Shields Lake Drive in Richmond.
Tickets range between $20 and $25 for adults. Participants can buy them in advance online on Maymont's website.
