Garden Glow to illuminate Maymont in Richmond with new light installations

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Maymont in Richmond will once again be illuminated in colorful lights this fall as the annual Garden Glow event returns, with new artistic light installations.
The Garden Glow event will run from Wednesday, Oct. 15, through Sunday, Nov. 9, lighting up Maymont's landscape and gardens with a colorful array of lights. The event will be open every night except on Mondays.
Maymont's grounds will close at 4 p.m. daily, and Garden Glow will open at 6 p.m. for the first eight days, then at 5:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. as the days grow shorter. The event ends at 10 p.m. nightly, with the last entry at 9 p.m.

According to a spokesperson for the event, attendees will find the following three new artistic light installations at Garden Glow this year:
- A lawn blanketed with thousands of lights that pulse and blink in patterns synchronized with music
- Towering bouquets of 22-foot-tall peonies sprouting on a hill
- A flock of origami-style birds caught in midflight in the treetops
The event will also feature the Glow Village, located on the Carriage House Lawn, where guests can gather around fire pits and glowing furniture to enjoy food and drinks.
There will also be a giant Shadow Wall, where people can make designs with colored pegs on the Big Bright Mega Light, as well as Glow Swings to sit on.

According to the spokesperson, new this year is a one-night-only fundraising evening called Glow Up! that will take place on Thursday, Oct. 16, and is reserved for a smaller crowd.
The Glow Up! fundraising evening will have special treats like light bites and refreshments, VIP goodies and live entertainment, with group packages available for companies or individuals who want to entertain clients, employees or family and friends.
Ticket prices for Garden Glow range from $20 to $25 for adults, with discounts for Maymont members and children.
