Gas leak temporarily shuts down Chesterfield shopping center
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A contractor accidentally struck a gas line during excavation work Thursday, prompting a temporary evacuation of nearby businesses in a Chesterfield shopping center, according to county fire officials.
Chesterfield Fire & EMS said the incident was quickly brought under control and the gas leak has been contained. Businesses were evacuated for about 45 minutes, but have since been allowed to return.
No injuries were reported.
