Goochland appoints new Deputy Fire-Rescue Chief with over three decades of service

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Goochland County Fire-Rescue has appointed its new Deputy Fire-Rescue Chief. On Thursday, Dec. 12, the department announced that William Christopher Brooks is its new Deputy Fire-Rescue Chief, effective immediately. According to the department, Brooks is currently the District Chief of Hadensville Company 6. He has served with the Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services for 32 years. He joined his current company in 1992 and has served in a number of roles in both fire and EMS, from registered paramedic to fire captain. (Photo: Goochland County Fire-Rescue) Brooks also served for many years with the Albemarle County Fire Department, joining in 1997 as one of its first career firefighters, according to Goochland Fire-Rescue. His roles were varied here, as well, including battalion chief. He also managed the department's EMS supply budget and developed policies and protocols during his tenure. "Being with Albemarle County since its inception of its combination department of volunteer and career staff, [Brooks] has invaluable experience that will benefit Goochland County Fire-Rescue," fire officials said. "Chief Brooks has dedicated his life to public service in both Goochland as a volunteer and in Albemarle as a career firefighter. He is respected by his peers in both departments." Brooks will retire from his role with Albemarle Fire-Rescue on Jan. 1, 2025.
