Gov.-elect Spanberger announces secretary of transportation appointment
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger recently announced the new appointment for the Commonwealth's secretary of transportation, Nick M. Donohue.
Donohue, a Richmond native and graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), founded Transportation and Infrastructure Strategies LLC and has also served in senior leadership roles under three governors of Virginia, according to the Tuesday, Dec. 9 announcement.
During his time as deputy secretary, he worked alongside the General Assembly to help pass a significant transportation package as well as establish the Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Program.
“It is an honor to be nominated by Governor-elect Spanberger to serve as Virginia’s Secretary of Transportation. Transportation is ultimately about opportunity, connecting people to jobs, education, and the communities they call home. I am committed to ensuring every investment we make strengthens those connections,” said Donohue. “I am excited to advance the Governor-elect’s agenda to improve the everyday lives of Virginians.”
