Hanover County Sheriff’s Office continues search for two men who opened fire in FedEx plant parking lot
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Hanover County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is looking for two men after a parking lot shooting. Three men opened fire on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at the FedEx plant located at 10999 Air Park Road.
Sergeant Steve Wills with the HCSO said this could’ve ended very differently. Over twelve shots were fired but luckily no one was hurt.
Three FedEx employees got into an altercation inside, then brought it to the parking lot.
“It’s our understanding that there was some sort of altercation between three employees at that location," Wills said.

Shots were fired at the FedEx plant at 10999 Air Park Road.
It was just before 7:30 p.m. when the sheriff’s office was called to the plant. Wills said when the three employees left the building, confrontation flared up again, ending in gunfire.
“There are two suspects that ran away from our victim and his mother who was there to pick him up and retrieved firearms from the vehicle," Wills told 8News. "They were then seen on camera firing at our victim who is in the passenger's side of the vehicle that his mother is driving.”
The 19-year-old victim then fired his own gun, at times only 20 to 30 yards apart from each other, as his mother drove out of the parking lot as their car was hit with bullets.
“There were a lot of people coming in, a lot of people coming out, so there were a lot of innocent bystanders in the parking lot," Wills said.
The victim’s mother pulled over down the road where the victim was able to dial 911. Luckily, officials don’t believe anyone was hurt.
“We’re extremely fortunate, not just that we’re not working a homicide investigation, but we’re not looking at, you know, an innocent bystander that was struck by this gunfire as well," Wills said.
But Hanover law enforcement is still looking for the other two 18-year-old males. Wills said they'll be charged at least with shooting into an occupied vehicle, and that investigators could be working on additional charges like reckless handling of a firearm.
“If you’re an innocent bystander and something like this happens, take cover and call police," Wills. "That’s about all you can do. And if you’re involved in an altercation, you know, don’t let it escalate to the point where you’re pulling out guns shooting at people over a silly disagreement or argument.”
Wills said it’s not clear right now what the altercation was about that led up to shots being fired.
Once officials got to the scene, the department used its drone team to see if anyone had been injured in the cross fire, and to get a quick scan of the area. This also captured the crime scene, and can be turned into a 3D model in the future.
