Hanover Tomato Festival to bring nearly 100 vendors, activities and live music to Pole Green Park
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The 47th annual Hanover Tomato Festival is arriving at Pole Green Park on Friday, bringing a fun-filled celebration of the county's signature juicy tomatoes.
The festival will span from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 11, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Pole Green Park in the county's Mechanicsville area. Admission and parking are free, according to organizers.
Tomato lovers can try tomato and basil cupcakes, creamy feta and tomato chicken, BLT hot dogs, and chicken salad-stuffed tomatoes. Traditional festival food will also be available, including lobster rolls, funnel cakes, kettle corn, lemonade and ice cream.
As well as cuisine, attendees can enjoy live music on two stages, nearly 100 vendors and children's activities.

The Deloreans, a 1980s tribute band, will perform on the main stage at 5:45 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Storytime with Pamunkey Regional Library will be held at the children's stage at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by Jonathan the Juggler at 6 p.m., Tampa Taiko Japanese Drums at 7 p.m. and a silent disco party at 8 p.m.
Saturday's live music performances will include live country music with DanJo -- Danny Kensy and Barefoot Joe -- at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Tomato-themed contests will kick off at 11 a.m.

Saturday's entertainment at the children's stage will include story time with Pamunkey Regional Library at 9:30 a.m., Tampa Taiko Japanese Drums at 10 a.m., Mr. B's Magic Show at 11 a.m. and Music4Everyone at noon.
Both days will feature games, face painting, inflatable soccer, photo booths and plenty of chances to win prizes, according to the county.
Local farm vendors will offer fresh produce, honey, teas, desserts and treats for pets. In addition, artisans will showcase handcrafted goods.
The festival is pet-friendly, with leashes required. Cooling stations will be available.
