Hanover woman, 4-year-old daughter dead after car runs into pond in King William

(WRIC) -- A Hanover County woman and her 4-year-old daughter are dead after they ran off the road and into a pond Monday afternoon, as the first winter storm of 2025 hit Virginia. At about 1:20 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, state troopers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the 4000 block of Etna Mills Road, according to Virginia State Police (VSP). The agency has determined that Kayeley Elizabeth Williams of Hanover County was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe when she ran off the road and overturned into a pond. According to VSP, she and her 4-year-old daughter died at the scene. Both of them had their seatbelts on and the child was properly restrained in her car seat, state police said. This crash remains under investigation. According to state police, weather is considered a factor in this crash due to road conditions at the time. This is one of many crashes state troopers are investigating across Virginia during the first winter storm of 2025.
