Henrico announces Wilkinson Road project to finish ahead of schedule
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico County Public Works and Public Utilities departments recently announced that the Wilkinson Road bridge project will be finished ahead of its original completion date. According to the departments, the Wilkinson Road Bridge Replacement project is situated between Pony Farm Drive and Wilkinson Estates Drive along Wilkinson Road in Henrico. As a result of repeated flooding incidents along the bridge, the replacement aims to raise the roadway and prevent future flooding, according to the departments. The project began in September of 2023, and has required all traffic to follow a detour that has been described as an inconvenience by local residents. As of their most recent announcement, the departments expect the bridge to be drivable in May of 2025. Originally, the project was set to be completed at a undetermined date in 2025. This project is part of over 100 transportation projects set in place in an attempt to increase driver and pedestrian safety in Henrico County. To view their full announcement, click here.
