Henrico County opens libraries as warming centers amid cold weather
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County will open two of its libraries as warming centers for community members on Tuesday.
Henrico County announced that on Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Fairfield Area Library and Libby Mill Library will not offer library service but instead serve as warming centers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the community.
The Fairfield Area Library is located at 1401 N. Laburnum Ave., and the Libbie Mill Library is at 2100 Libbie Lake E. St.
Henrico has also shared that all other county facilities will be closed on Tuesday due to the winter weather from this weekend.
Community members are invited to the warming centers to warm up from the cold weather or to charge electronic devices.
Visitors are allowed to bring any personal devices, such as phones and tablets, as well as board games, water bottles and snacks. However, refreshments will not be provided.
These warming centers will be hosted in large meeting rooms, with access to restrooms for visitors.
Library services, such as computers, printing, book checkouts and study rooms, will not be offered as Henrico County Security officers staff the warming centers.
