Henrico County Public Schools announces new chief of staff
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County Public Schools has announced the division's new chief of staff.
In a Thursday, Feb. 26 press release, the school district welcomed Dr. Michelle Boyd into the role, saying she brings over 23 years of classroom and leadership experience to the position.
That experience includes Boyd currently serving as a regional assistant superintendent for Fairfax County Public Schools, where she oversaw 24 schools and 24,000 students.
Before that, Boyd gathered experience leading special education programs, student services and more as assistant superintendent for special services at Fairfax Schools.
“Dr. Boyd is an innovative and collaborative leader with a proven track record of meaningful results,” said Henrico Schools Superintendent Amy Cashwell in the release. “Her work aligning resources and people has contributed to measurable gains in Algebra I enrollment, English learner progress and reading proficiency among students with disabilities.”
In the role of chief of staff, Boyd will work with school leaders and central office to aid alignment throughout departments, as well as head policy development and the Department of Accountability, Research and Evaluation.
“I am energized to join the Henrico team and serve a community that means so much to my family,” Boyd said in the release. “My children had an outstanding school experience, and I know first-hand the division’s commitment to students and employees. I look forward to working with Dr. Cashwell, the School Board, staff and families to empower every learner.”
Boyd will officially begin her role at Henrico County Public Schools in March.
