Henrico police respond to social media claims of racial bias in NICU investigation
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- In the midst of the Henrico Doctors' Hospital neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) investigation, Henrico police sent out a statement addressing social media videos that alleged that the victims were targeted due to their race. According to the Henrico County Police Division, investigators are aware that there are social media videos circulating about the NICU investigation at Henrico Doctors' Hospital that alleges that the victims of the nurse's crimes were targeted due to race. Henrico County Police Division said that the information alleged is not factual. Like any other investigation, Henrico police confirmed the that investigation team is using all resources available to look into this case, which involves reviewing video footage from inside of the NICU. Due to the sensitivity of this matter, demographics like race, gender, types of injuries, etc. are not available to be released, as detectives aim to avoiding any compromise of the investigation process. “We understand the feelings and emotions this investigation has generated for our community members and beyond,” said Henrico Chief of Police Eric D. English. “We kindly request patience as our detectives work to investigate every piece of evidence in connection to these cases.
