Henrico removes more sections from redistricting plans after previously dropping, revising other plans

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico County School Board made a notable change regarding the 2025-26 school year boundary adjustment process following Tuesday's meeting, eliminating some neighborhoods from two scenarios.

During a county school board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22, members voted to eliminate some localities from both the Quioccasin Middle School scenario and Tucker High School scenario.

The following are the affected neighborhoods:

  • Crossings at Short Pump
  • Trails at Short Pump
  • 3500 West View
  • Extended Stay America

According to the school board, the required change to the Ruby F. Carver Elementary School to "account for feeder pattern changes" is the portion that remains the same.

This news comes nearly a month after the school board dropped two of the seven original proposed redistricting plans and revised a third. Most recently, the school board voted to remove parts of the rezoning changes to Quioccasin Middle School following a meeting on Oct. 9.

The reported boundary adjustments would have addressed overcrowding, following community feedback from parents, students and staff.

The school board is scheduled to vote on the remaining boundary adjustment scenarios on Thursday, Dec. 18.
