Henricus Historical Park to revive Opechancanough’s 1622 Offensive to Life at with live demonstrations
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County will hold a special event of Opechancanough's 1622 Offensive to Life at Henricus Historical Park later this month.
According to a March 19 press release from the county, historical interpreters will bring Opechancanough's 1622 Offensive to Life from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, featuring live demonstrations of military tactics including musket firings, swords, pikes, medical techniques and more.
The story follows Alice Proctor, John Proctor's wife, who successfully defends their plantation home from the ongoing military offensive attacks that killed more than 300 colonists in one day on March 22, 1622.
Attendees are invited to learn what led Powhatan Chief Opechancanough to command a series of attacks against English colonists and how they responded in the aftermath, county officials said.
The event, which is free to attend, will be held at Henricus Historical Park, located at 251 Henricus Park Road, in the county's Chester area.
