HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- Several holiday celebrations are taking place in Hopewell this week, offering festive opportunities like an ice rink opening, a boat parade and more. Hopewell Skating Rink The indoor Hopewell Skating Rink opens on Thursday, Dec. 5. The rink is located at 301 Randolph Road, and will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only until Jan. 4. The rink is also available to host birthday parties and special events. Tickets are $6 per person plus service fees and must be purchased in advance here. Holiday Light Boat Parade The 2024 Hopewell boat parade can be viewed from several different locations throughout the city, and will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. Boat registrations will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. Light up the Night Holiday Parade The Light up the Night parade will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. The Grand Illumination of the City community tree will immediately follow, as well as the 2024 Downtown Holiday Festival. There will be free photos with Santa available, among other activities at the Appomattox Regional Library. There will also be train, horse and carriage rides, a petting zoo and a bouncy house at E. Cawson and Library streets. Attendees will also be able to make ornaments with Lamb Arts at its new location, 230 E. Broadway Avenue. The Artesian Vendors Market will be open along East Broadway Avenue and is sponsored by the Hopewell Downtown Partnership. Street parking will not be permitted on Cawson Street or Library Street during these times.
Additional street parking will not be permitted during these periods.
