Hopewell man charged with second-degree murder after wife found dead

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after his wife was found dead in Hopewell on Wednesday.

According to the Hopewell Police Department, they received a report of an "active domestic disturbance" in the 300 block of South Mesa Drive at 8:08 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Once officers arrived they found a woman, identified as 46-year-old Medea Masterson, with severe injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Her husband, 42-year-old Larry Masterson, was taken into custody as a suspect and charged with second-degree murder. He was then taken to Riverside Regional Jail, where he is currently being held without bond, according to authorities.
