Incident involving dump truck kills person at Chesterfield intersection

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person was killed Wednesday evening following an incident involving a dump truck at a Chesterfield County intersection.

According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, an accidental death is under investigation after an incident occurred near the intersection of Otterdale and Woolridge Road at 4:23 p.m on Wednesday, April 30.

Officials said that an attempt was being made to either tow or repair the dump truck, when a person was killed in a manner currently unknown to police.

The investigation is ongoing, and responding officers are awaiting additional resources as of the time of reporting.

The Virginia Department of Transportation alerted drivers that all northbound and southbound lanes of Otterdale Road and Woolridge Road were closed as of 5:19 p.m. due to the incident.
