Industrial printing equipment catches fire at Chesterfield photography lab

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A piece of equipment supplemental to an industrial printer caught on fire inside a photography business along Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County Monday evening.

At 11:09 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, Chesterfield County Fire and EMS crews responded to a call for a fire inside Richmond Professional Lab, a photography lab located at 7545 Midlothian Turnpike.

Officials said firefighters found a large fire inside the building. Crews contained the fire to the equipment, and the fire was marked under control in less than 30 minutes.

"The incident was contained to a supplemental piece of equipment, and we are relieved to report there was no damage to our facility and no injuries," a representative from Richmond Professional Lab told 8News. "We have assessed the situation and are operating as normal with minimal disruption to operations."

Due to a large amount of smoke inside the building, crews remained on scene for an extended time. Chesterfield County Fire and EMS crews used the Mobile Ventilation Unit to try to clear the smoke out of the business.
