Jump back in time with The Valentine’s walking history tour

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Jump back in time on Saturday morning with The Valentine's walking history tour.

The Hollywood Cemetery Walking Tour will be held for 90 minutes from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 412 S. Cherry Street.

According to The Valentine, Richmond guides will walk you through the graves of some of Virginia's most prominent figures since 1847. This includes rebels, rockers, politicians, Pulitzer Prize winners and two U.S. presidents: James Monroe, the 5th president, and John Tyler, the 10th president.

The tour will give you the chance to learn about the 18,000 Civil War dead buried in Hollywood and the cemetery’s legacy as a shrine to the Confederacy, according to The Valentine.

The event is $20 per adult, and $10 for Valentine members. The tour will be 1.5 to 2 miles and involves multiple inclines.

Those looking to attend should enter at Cherry and Albemarle streets and meet at the rear of the stone cottage to the left.

You are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
