Juvenile and 22-year-old arrested after illegal firearms and narcotics seized in Hanover, Richmond busts

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A juvenile and a 22-year-old man were arrested this week after illegal firearms and narcotics were recovered in busts executed at residences in Hanover County and Richmond.
The first operation was conducted by the Hanover County Sheriff's Office in the 100 block of N. Washington Highway on Thursday, Sept. 11, in relation to a narcotics investigation, according to authorities.
Officials said that when the suspect arrived at the N. Washington Highway location, their vehicle was contained and two occupants -- a 22-year-old male suspect and a juvenile -- were taken into custody.
Through the investigation, officials located a Glock 45 handgun with an illegal conversion "switch," which makes the firearm fully automatic. Additionally, they found over one ounce of cocaine, one pound of marijuana and several conversion switches that were not installed on firearms.
Additionally, materials were recovered by investigators that related to the manufacturing of switches and ghost guns, according to officials.
Afterwards, investigators obtained a search warrant for the suspect's residence in the 1700 block of Colorado Avenue in Richmond. This search was completed by Virginia State Police, and led to the recovery of one ounce of cocaine, two pounds of marijuana, around $2,000 in U.S. currency and additional firearms.
The adult suspect was taken to Pamunkey Regional Jail, where he is currently being held without bond, and the juvenile was taken to the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.
