Keya’s Snacks founder showcases snacks featuring cultural spices
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News spoke with the founder of Keya's Snacks Wednesday morning to learn more about snacks on many stores' shelves in Central Virginia.
In the morning on Wednesday, April 2, 8News Anchors Delaney Hall and Autumn Childress spoke with Keya Wingfield, CEO and founder of Keya's Snacks.
In terms of what customers can expect, Wingfield said her business' potato chips are "built on flavor, backed by culture."
Wingfield explained that she was born and raised in Mumbai, but she has lived in Richmond for nearly 20 years.
"I'm kind of bridging the gap, merging the two cultures into one snack," Wingfield said.
Wingfield brought the two flavors to the studio that Central Virginia residents can expect to see on store shelves: Bombay spice and black salt. The spices come from India, while the potatoes are from the U.S., coming together to combine an Indian-American snack.
