Late-night crashes shut down I-95 South in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Multiple crashes have shut down Interstate 95 South in Richmond late Tuesday night, causing miles of backups.
The incident took place just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, on I-95 South near Chamberlayne Avenue, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
As of 11:36 p.m., all southbound lanes are closed. Traffic is backed up at least two miles.
Details on what happened are limited at this time. VDOT is reporting that at least two crashes have occurred in this area.
