LEGO’s first U.S. factory to mark major milestone in construction process in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The LEGO Company announced earlier this afternoon that it is one step closer to completing the construction of its Chesterfield factory, which is the first LEGO factory in the U.S.

The facility is set to officially open in 2027 and will be the first factory located in the U.S., according to project officials.

LEGO Group leaders and general contractors associated with the project, JC Gray and Hourigan executives, as well as elected officials such as Gov. Glenn Youngkin will come together for a "Topping Out" ceremony at the site in October.

"The Chesterfield County factory VA will serve as a cornerstone in the brand’s global manufacturing network and represents a long-term commitment to growth in the Americas," officials said.

When the factory is complete, it will include 13 buildings which will cover over 1.7 million square feet, as well as feature office spaces, moulding area, processing and packaging facilities and a high-bay warehouse.
