LIST: Central Va. schools closed, delayed Wednesday due to winter storm, other factors
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The first winter storm of 2025 continues to impact Virginians, whether it be through icy roadways or the lasting effects of power outages. Here's a list of Central Virginia school divisions that will be closed or delayed on Wednesday for those reasons.
The following Central Virginia school districts will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 8:
- Caroline County Public Schools
- 12-month employees should report at 10 a.m. if possible.
- Chesterfield County Public Schools
- 12-month employees should report at 10 a.m. if possible.
- Cumberland County Public Schools
- Fluvanna County Public Schools
- Goochland County Public Schools
- Hanover County Public Schools
- Closed in part due to ongoing water issues.
- Henrico County Public Schools
- Closed in part due to ongoing water issues.
- 12-month employees should work remotely if possible.
- Louisa County Public Schools
- Mecklenburg County Public Schools
- Staff/teacher work day.
- Northumberland County Public Schools
- Powhatan County Public Schools
- Prince Edward County Public Schools
- Richmond City Public Schools
- Closed due to ongoing water issues.
The following school districts will be open two hours late on Wednesday:
- Brunswick County Public Schools
- Colonial Heights Public Schools
- Maintenance & custodial staff should report on-time
- Dinwiddie County Public Schools
- Greensville County Public Schools
- Hopewell City Public Schools
- Essential staff should report on-time.
- Middlesex County Public Schools
- Nottoway County Public Schools
- Prince George County Public Schools
- Essential staff should report on-time.
