LIST: Central Va. schools closed, delayed Wednesday due to winter storm, other factors

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The first winter storm of 2025 continues to impact Virginians, whether it be through icy roadways or the lasting effects of power outages. Here's a list of Central Virginia school divisions that will be closed or delayed on Wednesday for those reasons.

The following Central Virginia school districts will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 8:

  • Caroline County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees should report at 10 a.m. if possible.
  • Chesterfield County Public Schools
    • 12-month employees should report at 10 a.m. if possible.
  • Cumberland County Public Schools
  • Fluvanna County Public Schools
  • Goochland County Public Schools
  • Hanover County Public Schools
  • Henrico County Public Schools
  • Louisa County Public Schools
  • Mecklenburg County Public Schools
    • Staff/teacher work day.
  • Northumberland County Public Schools
  • Powhatan County Public Schools
  • Prince Edward County Public Schools
  • Richmond City Public Schools

The following school districts will be open two hours late on Wednesday:

  • Brunswick County Public Schools
  • Colonial Heights Public Schools
    • Maintenance & custodial staff should report on-time
  • Dinwiddie County Public Schools
  • Greensville County Public Schools
  • Hopewell City Public Schools
    • Essential staff should report on-time.
  • Middlesex County Public Schools
  • Nottoway County Public Schools
  • Prince George County Public Schools
    • Essential staff should report on-time.
