LIST: Central Virginia schools closed Tuesday due to snow, icy weather

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Several Central Virginia schools and school districts will be closed on Tuesday due to the ongoing impacts of Monday's wintry weather.

Virginia saw its second snowfall of the season on Monday, Dec. 8 -- and while that snow is expected to stop falling Monday evening, state agencies have warned that a refreeze is expected overnight. This means roadways will continue to be hazardous on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

To ensure the safety of staff, students and families, the following Central Virginia schools and school districts will close on Tuesday due to this poor weather:

  • Amelia County Public Schools
  • Dinwiddie County Public Schools
  • Prince Edward County Public Schools
  • Richmond City Public Schools
  • Fuqua School in Farmville

This article will be updated if and when additional delays or closings are announced. You can find a real-time list of active weather-related delays and closings here.
