Louisa man arrested in 2023 Albemarle home invasion after DNA match

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 24-year-old Louisa County man was arrested after police say DNA evidence linked him to a 2023 Albemarle County home invasion.

On Aug. 11, 2023, officers with the Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) were called to Stony Point Road for report of an armed home invasion.

Nearly two years later, on Thursday, July 17, DNA evidence that was collected by investigators at the time returned a positive match. According to police, that match was 24-year-old Jahazi Veney of Louisa.

Veney was charged with burglary while possessing a deadly weapon, brandishing a firearm and the use of a firearm while committing a felony.

Police said he is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
