Male in critical condition after he was shot in both legs in Buckingham
BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A male victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition after he was shot in both legs in Buckingham County on Monday.
On Monday, Nov. 3, the Buckingham County Communications Center received a call regarding a male victim who had been shot.
Deputies with the Buckingham County Sheriff's Office located the victim, who had been shot in both legs. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Troopers with Virginia State Police joined deputies in executing a search warrant on a home in the 2000 block of Slate Hill Road in the New Canton area. Per police, a firearm and ammunition were recovered from the home.

As a result of this investigation, Michael Carrington of New Canton was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was hit with six charges, including:
- One count of malicious wounding
- One count of shooting into an occupied dwelling
- One count of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, second offense
- One count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Two counts of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon
Carrington is being held at the Piedmont Regional Jail as of the time of reporting.
