Man arrested after shooting in Lunenburg County

LUNENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man has been arrested after a Tuesday night shooting in Lunenburg County put another man in the hospital.

At around 7:52 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, deputies with Lunenburg County Sheriff's Office responded to gunshots heard on Mecklenburg Street. When they arrived, the deputies found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Victoria Fire and Rescue treated the victim at the scene. He was then flown to an area hospital, where he is still receiving treatment as of the time of reporting. Authorities did not specify his condition.

New Kent Sheriff’s Office sought man charged with animal cruelty

According to the sheriff's office, following an investigation, Treron Jones was identified as a suspect. Jones was charged with the following:

  • Aggravated malicious wounding
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
