Man dies, woman injured after shooting in Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A man has died and a woman is injured after police said they were both shot in Richmond's Southside Thursday evening.

At 9:58 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 2000 block of Columbia Street for the report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a man and woman both with apparent gunshot wounds.

Both were immediately taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Police said the man died due to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The woman's injuries are non-life-threatening, according to officials.

The shooting follows a stabbing that also occurred in Richmond's Southside just hours earlier Thursday evening, which injured one man.
