Man fighting for life after being hit by vehicle in Richmond hit-and-run

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is fighting for his life after being hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in Richmond on Saturday morning.

At about 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to a report of a person lying in the roadway in the 1200 block of Broad Rock Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying injured in the road in the left travel lane on the south side of Broad Rock Boulevard between Belt Boulevard & Clover Lane. He had been hit by a vehicle, according to police.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver of the vehicle drove away without stopping or helping the man.

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team responded to the scene and determined the pedestrian was crossing from the north to the south side of the street, heading toward Southwood Parkway, when he was hit.

The investigation remains ongoing.
