Man killed, another seriously injured in Henrico shooting

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- One man was killed and another man was seriously injured in a shooting that is currently under investigation by the Henrico County Police Division.

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, officers were called to a residence at the Mallard Greens Apartments in the 2800 block of Fairfield Avenue for a reported shooting.

Upon their arrival, officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. According to police, lifesaving measures were taken, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said another man with an apparent gunshot wound transported himself to Richmond Community Hospital with serious injuries. He was later transferred to VCU Hospital for additional care.

An occupied dwelling and motor vehicles reported sustained damage from gunshots during the incident.

"Henrico Police Criminal Investigative section (CIS) responded to the scene and began their investigation," a release from a police spokesperson reads. "This is still an active scene."
