Maryland man accused of asking Hanover juvenile for CSAM ‘numerous times’
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Maryland man is accused of asking a Hanover County juvenile to produce child sexual abuse material (CSAM) for him on "numerous occasions."
On Tuesday, July 8, investigators with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office interviewed an unidentified juvenile regarding their "inappropriate online relationship with an adult."
Per authorities, 23-year-old Dustin Lee Hopkins of Alleghany County, Maryland is accused of soliciting CSAM -- specifically images of the juvenile naked -- from the juvenile on "numerous occasions" via the Internet.
Hopkins was then arrested in North Carolina, where he attends college. He was then extradited to Hanover on Tuesday, July 29 and he is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail as of the time of reporting.
"The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Pasquotank Sheriff`s Office for their assistance with locating Hopkins and taking him into custody," Hanover authorities said.
In total, Hopkins faces six charges of soliciting a minor and six charges of possessing CSAM.
