Mega Millions ticket bought in Chesterfield cashes in for a big prize

CHESTEFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Someone hit the lottery after purchasing a ticket at a Food Mart in Chester. The ticket from Tuesday night's Mega Millions is now worth $2 million.

The drawing happened on Tuesday, April 29, on 2720 West Hundred Road in Chester.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 16-33-40-51-57, and the Mega Ball number was 10. The winning ticket matched all first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number.

The initial prize amount for matching the first five numbers was $1 million, however, each Mega Million play now has a multiplier, which is randomly assigned upon purchase -- the multiplier on this ticket was two, which doubled the prize to $2 million.

The identity of the winner isn't known as of the time of reporting, but according to Virginia Lottery News, the winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize. The Virginia Lottery advises that the winner sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership and contact the Virginia Lottery to claim the ticket.
