Mischief, the nearly 20-pound cat up for adoption in Goochland

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Goochland County's animal shelter is looking for a new home for a very good, very big boy.

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Goochland County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center took to Facebook to share that Mischief, a 5-year-old grey cat who weighs a whopping 19 pounds, is up for adoption.

Mischief's previous owner recently passed away, leaving him in the hands of the county. According to animal officials, being at the shelter without his owner -- and on a diet -- has left Mischief feeling pretty down in the dumps.

"Mischief is very, very sweet and his sadness has us feeling down on this rainy Tuesday," the shelter said in the post.

At this time, Mischief is living in the office of the shelter's supervisor -- as he "can’t share food with kitty friends and doesn’t fit in a tower."

Mischief has been neutered, chipped and fully vetted. He needs an adoptive family that suits his specific needs, the shelter said.

"We’re looking for a family that has a big enough couch (and maybe some pet stairs) for this guy and can commit to his diet," animal officials said.
