Missing 14-year-old boy last seen leaving Henrico high school found safe

UPDATE: This missing teenager has been found safe, according to police.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A missing 14-year-old boy last seen leaving a Henrico County high school on Wednesday has since been found safe.

The afternoon of Thursday, March 19, the Henrico County Police Division issued a missing juvenile alert for 14-year-old Gerard Dakouo, who went missing the day prior.

Later Thursday evening, Virginia State Police issued a CODI Alert for Dakouo. This kind of alert means that, while abduction is not suspected, a child's disappearance is still believed to pose a credible threat to their health and safety.

Dakouo was last seen leaving Highland Springs High School at about 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18. He was on foot and headed in an unknown direction.

On Friday morning, police provided an update, saying that Dakouo has been found safe.
