Nearly $2 million in illegal drugs, two dozen firearms seized in one week: VSP
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police (VSP) seized nearly $2 million in illegal drugs and two dozen firearms over the past seven days as part of an ongoing crime suppression initiative.
In partnership with local and federal agencies, VSP continues to carry out crime suppression operations throughout the state. On Friday, May 30, the agency provided a new weekly report on these efforts.
From May 21 to May 28, over 400 pounds of illegal drugs were seized by state troopers. This included 379 pounds of marijuana, 1.8 pounds of methamphetamine, 11.9 ounces of cocaine, 7.9 ounces of crack cocaine and 6.5 ounces of fentanyl.
Over 4,200 controlled substance pills were also seized, including 2,000 fentanyl pills, 1,976 ecstasy pills and 282 Percocet pills.
According to state police, the denied revenue from these illegal drugs is estimated to be about $1,974,880.

Additionally, state troopers recovered $341,421 in U.S. currency and 24 firearms. These firearms are valued at about $12,000, VSP said.
"The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime," the agency said in a press release. "By working in close collaboration with local, state and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities."
