Nearly 2,000 homes, businesses without power in Central Virginia after Saturday’s storms

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly 2,000 Central Virginia homes and businesses are without power Sunday morning after severe weather hit the area.

As of 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, nearly 2,000 homes and businesses are without power, according to Dominion Energy.

On the evening of Saturday, July 19, thunderstorms and flash flooding hit the Central Virginia area, knocking out power for many Dominion Energy customers.

This includes significant outages in the following localities:

  • Henrico County: 614 homes and businesses without power
  • Hanover County: 342 homes and businesses without power
  • Goochland County: 252 homes and businesses without power
  • New Kent County: 151 homes and businesses without power
  • City of Petersburg: 87 homes and businesses without power

This comes after over 3,500 homes and businesses were without power in the area on the morning of Saturday, July 19, with homes in Henrico, Chesterfield and Dinwiddie counties hit especially hard.
